The oyster villages

You can discover a series of picturesque oyster villages between Claouey and Cap Ferret, with their huts and their decorated walls with white laths, colored doors and shutters, it will not leave you indifferent! During the season, art lovers can find small art galleries that propose their paintings in the heart of these oyster villages.

Cap-Ferret Lighthouse
Don’t forget to climb the 258 steps that will lead you to the top of the lighthouse (53 meters of altitude), from which you can enjoy the view over the Arcachon Basin and the ocean (Pilat dune, the Arcachon Basin channels, Arguin bank, oyster villages…).
During the summer season this national monument transforms in a setting for musical and artistic representations.

The Algerian Villa


Also on the list of historical monuments, this chapel has been built in a Moorish style (inspired on ancient oriental palace) and is part of the Algerian Villa domain. The chapel has been entirely restored in the last years.

Discovery and tasting of oysters
For over a century, the oyster culture has been part of the richness of the Arcachon Basin. Come and taste some oysters in the heart of the oyster villages, between Claouey and Cap Ferret. Right on the waterfront, the oyster farmers are awaiting you.
For the real oyster lovers, you have the possibility to go by foot at low tide to the oyster banks, and visit the oyster area of Piraillan to learn about the oyster culture, conditioning and marketing…

Ville d'Hiver d'Arcachon


Mecca of the holiday resort, the « Ville d'Hiver d'Arcachon » (winter town) shows its rich past through a series of neo-classical, neo-gothic, Moorish, colonial or Swiss chalet architecture inspired styles.

La Source des Abatilles
Come and see the spring of Abatilles, part of the Arcachon patrimonium. This visit will allow you to discover the history of the spring and the different stages of production (visit to the bottling factory). Tasting of the spring water is on the program!
